Kreativity in a Galaxy Far, Far Away

Greetings from a computer far far away!

The continuation of the Star Wars series has sparked the resurfacing of all the Star Wars’ fanatics and an increase in popularity of Star Wars merchandise and everything that goes along with it. So we decided to come up with Star Wars themed kreative activities for all those Star Wars lovers out there!

First lets create the galaxy:

Galaxy Slime:

What you Need:

1 bottle of Elmer’s Clear School Glue (5 oz)
1/2-3/4 cup Sta-Flo Liquid Starch (Can find at Walmart)
Liquid watercolors (several squirts until you get the desired color)
Fine glitter in a variety of colors

  • Put your glue into a bowl first. Then add your coloring and glitter and mix well.
  • Then you can start adding your starch, but just add it in small increments at a time, stirring well to mix after each one to incorporate your starch fully (3/4 cup of starch maybe too much!)
    • After the first couple of additions you’ll need to use your hands to knead the starch in, just like you are making bread dough.
    • Just add a little starch at a time and do a “stretch test” after each increment is kneaded in.
    • Once your slime is the consistency you prefer, STOP

Now for the characters:

Star Wars’ Handprint Character Paintings

What you Need:

Washable paint (Crayola)
Paint brush
Black marker

Instructions for Chewbacca Painting:

  • 1st step: determine what character you want to do-I like Chewie, but what is your favorite character?
  • Begin making Chewbacca’s head and face by painting the palm and fingers brown. Press the palm with fingers tightly together to the paper.
  • Allow the brown paint to dry completely.
  • Use the black marker to draw Chewie’s eyes, nose, and smile. Add two little fangs to the smile.

  • Use a small amount of white paint on the paint brush to paint the fangs white.
  • Close to Chewbacca’s “neck,” use the paint brush to paint his black bandolier.
  • When the black paint is dry, paint the small white rectangles to finish the bandolier. Chewbacca is done!

Toilet Roll Characters:

What you Need:

  • Toilet roll cores
  • Glue gun
  • Pencil
  • Acrylic paints and brushes
  • Two beads

  • First slit the tops of the toilet rolls
  • Fold over and glue into position. I use a glue gun for *instant* hold results.

  • Paint the toilet roll cores with a coat of white paint and when dry lightly sketch on the features of your movie characters.
  • Then begin painting your chosen characters by coloring in the penciled in lines of your sketch!
  • For Princess Leia’s hair buns I simply glued beads onto each side of her head and painted them the same brown color as I had mixed up for her hair
